Peril on the River

While escorting a barge of goods to Count Parlfray at the behest of Darius Carmen, the group came under attack. Just before dawn, during a light drizzle, several men led by a man cloaked in black attacked the group’s camp. During the melee, it became clear that the man in black was the servant of a dark power, which Ilios identified as Baalzebul, one of the fabled Archdukes of Hell. The power of his spells laid a curse upon the mighty Bartak, and nearly felled Ilios with its dark touch. A flash of lightning revealed to Daba the man’s face…a swarthy complexion with dark hair, and a grim eyepatch over one eye.

This same man was seen during the Hamas Day festival in Milbourne a few weeks prior.

After a swift but fierce battle, the party prevailed, forcing the man in black to flee, using a cape that became black bat wings. He flew south at great speed, deep into the Thornwood. Amongst the men felled in battle was one left merely incapacitated, which the party planned to question (after nearly drowning him).
